Indie Musical Comedy “The Dangerfields” Premieres Saturday, June 18, 7 P.M., at the
Garde Arts Center in New London, Connecticut, With Gala Screening to Benefit
Wounded Warriors Project

Connecticut-made film, set in the 1960s and inspired by true events, follows four high-school singers
who form a rock-and-roll band to gain a little respect.

NEW LONDON, Conn. – May 16, 2022: The Garde Arts Center at 325 State Street in New London
announces its upcoming June 18 premiere screening at 7 p.m. of “The Dangerfields,” a
lighthearted family-friendly indie musical comedy directed by Reno Venturi. In executive
producer and writer Doug Lumpkin’s semi-autobiographical flick, four high school seniors—the
Dangerfields—pursue their dream of a rock-and-roll band to gain a little respect in the face of
bullying peers, a choral director who hates rock and roll, a principal with side hustles under the
PTA’s radar, and a washed-up manager who involves the boys in shady schemes to make money
for instruments and gear. The 101-minute film was shot entirely in Connecticut with local talent
and features vintage songs, cars, wardrobe, and props from the 1960s that capture a bygone era.

General admission is $15 with all proceeds going to the Wounded Warrior Project, which honors
and empowers Wounded Warriors who incurred a physical or mental injury, illnesses, or wound,
co-incident to military service on or after September 11, 2001. Tickets can be purchased at
gardearts.org/events/the-dangerfields; by calling 860-444-7373, ext. 1, Monday through Friday,
10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; or by visiting the Garde Box Office at 325 State Street in New London during
business hours or two hours prior to the screening. Information on parking, area dining, and
nearby hotels can be found at gardearts.org/visit.

Doors open at 6 p.m. Immediately following the premiere, Doug Lumpkin, Reno Venturi,
actor/producer Bob Canelli, director of photography/editor Ben Theriault, and the original
Dangerfields will take to the stage for a brief presentation. Before and after the premiere,
attendees can mingle with cast, crew, and the creative team as well as check out vintage cars on
location for the event. Commemorative T-shirts for the film will be on sale.
