On October 2, 2022, the Garde audience picked their favorite films and actors for the MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival 2022. The results were added to votes from all over the world in a final tally.
The Final Ten MANHATTAN SHORT finalists hail from eight countries with films from Scotland, Chechia & Slovakia, Spain, Australia, Finland, and Lebanon, alongside two films each from France and USA. These Final Ten Films represented the best short films from 868 submissions from 70 countries received by MANHATTAN SHORT for 2022, testimony to the enduring vibrancy and creativity of short films worldwide.
And the Garde choices were the same as the world’s!
Comedy was the winner with The Treatment in first place. The drama Freefall won second, and the animated documentary Freedom Swimmer won third. Bronze Medal in the worldwide audience vote. The Best Actor Award went to second-time nominee Elina Patrakka for her standout performance in The Blanket, having previously starred in the 2020 short film The Stick.
