Maestro, starring Academy Award Nominees Bradley Cooper and Carey Mulligan, tells the complex love story of Leonard and Felicia Bernstein, a story that spans over 30 years from the time they met at a party in 1946.
The screening at the Garde will be unique since the London Symphony Orchestra, featured in the film, also performed live on the Garde stage, and it will have opening remarks from a former student of Bernstein, the maestro of the Eastern Connecticut Symphony, Toshiyuki Shimada.

“It’s capital-M Movie Acting, and I couldn’t love it more. It moved me.”
“Engrave an Oscar for actor-director Bradley Cooper for his heart-full-to-bursting tour de force as composer-conductor Leonard Bernstein. Alive with glorious music, the film soars…”
“This is a complex and sophisticated picture, the kind of grown-up love story we see all too rarely these days, especially when it comes to starry, big-ticket moviemaking. It’s entertaining and robust and forthright; it’s also tremendously sad, not necessarily in a bring-your-hanky way, but in a deeper, more truthful way.”
