Anastasia Rege, soprano
Anastasia Rege is a soprano, music director, and educator.
As a soloist, she has performed in the North American premiere of Oleksandr Shchetynsky’s Requiem at Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Hall, the world premiere of Hoguera de Silencios in Milan, and a modern premiere of Renaissance villancicos in Quito, Ecuador. As a choral artist, she has appeared in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 at Carnegie Hall, in Ukrainian-language performances of the work at the Kennedy Center and the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, and in the U.S. premiere of Ariel Ramírez’s Misa Criolla at Lincoln Center. Her recording work includes Hornbach’s CLIO Award–winning commercial “Morning” and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with Recursive Classics, praised by The Arts Desk for its “dramatic, witty, and eloquent” choral performance.
Anastasia is Artistic Director of Connecticut Lyric Opera (CLO). A longtime member of the company’s chorus since 2006, her appointment reflects a commitment to expanding access to opera and developing community-centered artistic programming.
She is an adjunct professor at the University of Hartford, where she teaches choral conducting and supervises student teachers. Her teaching spans more than a decade across New York and Connecticut. She developed an interdisciplinary STEM curriculum in instrument-making, featured by the Connecticut Music Educators Association and presented nationally. Her research explores instrument-making as a culturally responsive and interdisciplinary approach to education.
A church musician for nearly two decades, she serves as Director of Music Ministry at St. Columba Church in Brooklyn, New York, where she is organist, cantor, and director of the St. Columba Consort.
She holds a Ph.D. in Music Education from The Hartt School of the University of Hartford, along with degrees in vocal performance and music education from the Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music and the University of Connecticut.
