December 11 & 12, 2021
ECB is bringing the timeless and beloved Nutcracker back to the stage and the big screen this year in a unique multimedia production combining live and filmed performances that prioritize the safety of all dancers and audiences! Guest artists and no less than 100 professionally trained dancers from Eastern Connecticut Ballet will share the spotlight at the Garde Arts Center.
When the curtain rises, audience members will be treated to ECB’s spectacular new scenery. Stage sets showcase tall ships in port, lighthouses, the New London Custom House, and Whale Oil Row. Snowflakes swirl over Arctic ice fields where the city’s whaling ships once ventured on harrowing voyages. The unique nautical-themed sets celebrate southeastern Connecticut’s seafaring past and will transform the stage into a wintry day in New London during the 1850’s.
This treasured holiday tradition brings unforgettable characters to the stage: the heroine Clara and her brave Nutcracker, the mysterious Uncle Drosselmeyer, tiny mice, the dewdrop fairy, sailors and pirates, waltzing flowers, and many more!
Four magical performances will take place December 11th at 1:30pm & 7:00pm & December 12th at 11:00am & 4:30pm

As a further tool to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, proper mask usage for all patrons, regardless of age or vaccination status, will be required. Other precautions will include contactless entry, a digital playbill, digital ordering of concessions, and no intermission to reduce congregation in the lobby.
