In the long rich history of Family Groups in American Roots Music, THE CHAPIN FAMILY has a special place. When these singers, songwriters and extraordinary live performers come together, magic happens. Tom Chapin, Steve Chapin, Jen Chapin, and The Chapin Sisters (Abigail Chapin and Lily Chapin) are all powerful musical artists who have active careers and multiple recordings, who just happen to be related, and who love making music together.

Harry Chapin (1942 – 1981) was one of our most passionate, political, prolific and inspiring songwriters. Two generations of the musical Chapin Family will gather to bring the songs of Harry Chapin to life. Backed by The Harry Chapin Band (including Big John Wallace and Howard Fields), the Family will perform Harry’s classic songs, including Cat’s In The Cradle, Taxi, Mr. Tanner, Mail Order Annie, W•O•L•D, and Circle.

Experience iconic performances and timeless hits from Harry Chapin’s Greatest Stories LIVE. Don’t miss this unforgettable night of music!

DONATE TO THE FOOD DRIVE!

Garde Arts Center in partnership with the Gemma E. Moran United Way/Labor Food Center
is hosting a Food Drive.

YOU CAN HELP when you come to see Harry Chapin’s Greatest Stories Live featuring The Chapin Family by bringing in canned and packages only (low sodium and low sugar option preferred) such as canned meats, macaroni & cheese, vegetables, dry beans, fruits, stew, cereal, rice, pasta, and granola bars.

During his life, Harry Chapin was committed to fighting hunger. The Chapin Family continues to make hunger a priority and this drive is in Harry’s honor. In 1975 Harry founded World Hunger Year (or WHY) with radio host Bill Ayres, as a part of his effort to end world hunger. The non-profit lives on today as WhyHunger.

Since 1988, the Gemma E. Moran United Way/Labor Food Center, the signature program of United Way of Southeastern Connecticut, has played a key role in providing food to individuals and families facing hunger. Serving as New London County’s local food bank, the program works to increase access to food so that everyone in the community can achieve food security. The Food Center provides food and household items to 72 member programs including shelters, food pantries, after-school programs, day care centers, community meal sites, programs for seniors, and through its own Mobile Food Pantry. Last year, the Food Center and Mobile Food Pantry provided the equivalent of more than 1.8 million meals, at no cost, to those in need. To learn more, donate, or volunteer, visit www.uwsect.org.
