New London Plans and Perspectives for the Coming Year

(NEW LONDON, CT) The Garde Arts Center will host PRE:VIEW NEW LONDON, a civic gathering of New London's organizations and businesses, on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at 5:30 PM, free to the general public, at the Garde Theater, 325 State Street in New London.

Jun 25, 2008 9:00 AM - The public will hear about the major plans and activities for the next year affecting the New London region from representatives of New London Main Street, a non-profit organization which promotes the historic waterfront district in New London; Pfizer, Inc. of Groton/New London, the corporation's global headquarters of pharmaceutical research and development; Connecticut College; New London Landmarks, a non-profit corporation promoting the preservation & development of the entire urban environment of New London; Cross Sound Ferry Services, connecting the shoreline to Long Island; Fiddleheads, a natural foods co-op in downtown New London; Lawrence and Memorial Hospital, The Day Publishing Company, The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut, City Center District of New London, and many others. Additional New London-based organizations, merchants, and civic groups will provide expo-style displays throughout the Garde lobbies offering information, coupons and incentives for New London businesses, and prize giveaways.

This 'unity' event will bring together representatives from New London's cultural, economic, educational and civic organizations and enterprises to
  1. a) share major plans and activities for the upcoming year that impact on New London and the region with the general public;
  2. b) encourage greater community participation in New London's organizations and activities; and,
  3. c) strengthen community networking and collaboration among the organizations and interests working for a better New London.
The genesis of this event came from many parts of the community. The Garde was asked by City Council member Michael Buscetto III to host and facilitate the event along with the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut, New London Main Street, and other organizations.
