Connecticut Circus Troupe Joins Garde for Young and Fun

(New London, CT) The Day Young & Fun Series will open its 2007-08 season at the Garde Arts Center with the Russian American Kids Circus on Saturday, October 27 at 1:00 and 4:00 pm. Connecticut-based theatre troupe ARTFARM and its traveling circus show Circus for a Fragile Planet will join the Garde for a pre-show circus extravaganza on Saturday, October 27 at 3:00 pm.

Activities will include juggling lessons and roving clowns, jugglers, unicyclists and stilt-walkers. Family crafts and activities sponsored by The Day, and Pfizer, Inc. will begin at noon for the 1:00 pm Russian American Kids Circus performance.
ARTFARM is a Middletown-based nonprofit organization which creates high quality theater with a commitment to environmental sustainability and social justice. Circus for a Fragile Planet is a touring circus performance which uses the magic and artistry of circus to convey an environmental message which addresses the critical issues of global climate change, alternative energy sources, recycling, and individual responsibility in a way that is accessible and upbeat. Filled with clowning, juggling, acrobatics, and other circus skills and spectacle, the show is built around key elements of core earth science curriculum for grades 6-10 and accentuates the positive choices each individual or community can make to help build a better future for the planet. Tickets for the Russian American Kids Circus on Saturday, October 27 at 1:00 and 4:00 pm ($15-$20) are available through the Garde Box Office at 860-444-7373 or online at www.gardearts.org. Group discounts are also available. Patrons who held tickets to the Russian American Kids Circus for either the 1:00 or 4:00 pm performance, postponed from May 19, 2007, have had their tickets transferred to the respective performance on October 27.

Now in its eighty-first season, the Garde Arts Center is southeastern Connecticut’s non-profit center for the performing arts.
