Summer on Stage
Summer on Stage
is an unforgettable week-long summer theater experience at
the Garde Arts Center with the Missoula Children’s Theatre!
Up to 60 students will rehearse for the whole week and attend a variety of workshops, then put on two performances of an original musical with the Missoula Children’s Theater, the nation’s largest touring children’s theater. Participants will learn about many facets of theater giving them skills in presentation, confidence, self-expression and knowledge of related technical elements such as stage make-up, sound, and lighting.
Your Summer on Stage Program Coordinators are Bryan & Karyn Dawidowicz. They are supported by guest teachers, Garde staff and crew in partnership with the Missoula Children’s Theatre.

The Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT), the nation’s largest touring children’s theatre, has been touring extensively for more nearly 50 years now from Montana to Japan, and will visit nearly 1,100 communities this year with up to 44 teams of Tour Actor/Directors. A tour team arrives in a given town with a set, lights, costumes, props and make-up, everything it takes to put on a play…except the cast. The team holds an open audition and casts 50-60 local students to perform in the production. The show is rehearsed throughout the week and two public performances are presented.
All MCT shows are original adaptations of classic children’s stories and fairytales . . . a twist on the classic stories that you know and love. Also included in the residency are three enrichment workshops presented by the Tour Actor/Directors. Creativity, social skills, goal achievement, communication skills and self-esteem are all characteristics that are attained through the participation in this unique, educational project. MCT’s mission is the development of lifeskills in children through participation in the performing arts.

Bryan Dawidowicz began his acting career in Chicago where he discovered two of his great passions; improvisation and children’s theatre. After Chicago, Bryan had the pleasure of both teaching and performing in Philadelphia, New York, and finally settling down in New London as a full-time theater teacher at Nathan Hale Arts Magnet School. He has been a presenter at Connecticut’s HOT Schools conference and has also been trained as a teaching artist with Lincoln Center Education. Nathan Hale Arts Magnet School has produced musicals at the Garde Arts Center, and Bryan is very excited to be working with young students again in this magical space.
Karyn Dawidowicz began her theater career in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, performing at the Pittsburgh Playhouse and singing with the Jr. Mendelssohn Choir. She received her BFA in Music Theatre from Shenandoah Conservatory. Karyn has performed in many productions in Chicago, and Philadelphia, and has toured the country with the Lira Ensemble. Locally she has performed with Flock Theatre and has been a part of many performances at Mystic Seaport. Karyn has also been a union representative for Actors’ Equity Association, a position which allowed her to assist the needs of actors throughout the country. She is currently a guest teacher at Nathan Hale Arts Magnet School, and she has also had the pleasure of stage managing many of their productions. Karyn is thrilled to be at the Garde and to work with Summer on Stage.
