About Les Ballets Africains
Formed in Paris in 1952 by distinguished Guinean choreographer Keita Fodeba, Les Ballets Africains quickly rose to international prominence with the support of African heads of state. In 1958, following Guinea’s independence, the company was invited to become the national ensemble of Guinea, marking a defining moment in its history and launching a new era of global recognition.
Celebrated worldwide as cultural ambassadors, Les Ballets Africains proudly share the traditions, values, and artistic heritage of Africa while fostering understanding and connection across cultures.
In one extraordinary marathon, the company appeared in 165 capital cities, presenting 695 performances in just 750 days, traveling 180,000 kilometers by plane, 33,000 by train, and 21,000 by road.
