Stage Talk with Rick Koster

Where every show has something to say.

Arrest that actor!!

There’s a rich history of theatrical felony ranging from Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap and TS Elliot’s Murder in the Cathedral to Anthony Shaffer’s Sleuth and The Pillowman by Martin McDonaugh.

But few can match the intrigue and suspense, and certainly not is such hilarious fashion, of Sister’s Christmas Catechism: The Mystery of the Magi’s Gold — which comes to the Garde on Sat., Nov. 29.

A holiday ancillary to the classic Late Nite Catechism, this solo comedy is about everyone’s favorite old-school nun as she attempts to find the solution to a knotty and age-old crime What did happen to the gold bestowed to the Christ child by the magi on that holy night in the manger?

For crimes of this magnitude, we look beyond the Hardy Boys, Miss Marple, Kinsey Milhone, Dave Robicheux, Harry Bosch, Spenser and Lisbeth Salander and enlist your help as Sister takes the case.

Expect a re-creation of the original crime scene — which is to say the Nativity — and plenty of participatory seasonal laughter. No warrants, handcuffs, candy canes or fluency in doctrine required!
