Organizers of second annual event recognize those who helped make it happen

Mar 26, 2012 12:10 PM - A note of thanks to our communities supporting our youth:

To Ken Kitchings: for your devoted support of the arts and your passion towards invigorating this community, we offer our humblest thanks. Without you, we would be struggling to make this happen.

To the entire supporting staff at the Garde Arts Center: we are honored by your participation and the sharing of your expertise. Without your knowledge, guidance, and your patience this show would not look as sharply professional and sound as breathtaking as you make it. In awe of your work, we offer our thanks.

To the administrators of New London High School and The Writer’s Block: thank you for making your respective stages available to the talent in our show as they developed their stage presence, practice their performances and had a place to gather as a talent show family.

Special thanks to Jammin’ 107.7, WCNI 90.9FM’s Moon Cheese Baby, WXLM’s Ann Buonocore of “Everyday People”, New London, Ledyard, and Montville Patch, The Day, and the Hartford Courant for supporting our production by speaking with our talent, about our talent, and letting them perform for your audiences.

We thank 2 Wives Brick Oven Pizza and the Coca Bottling Company for providing a celebratory meal to the talent as they reflect on their hard work and the success they created.

To the City of New London and the Fischers: thank you for your support.

Several rounds of applause are owed to the volunteer efforts of creative coaches. Thank you Jamelaa Jones, Teresa Vazquez, and Ron Bastine.

To the audience: we adore you. Your showing of support for our region’s youth, is perfection. Your smiles, your laughs, your applause, the times you leapt to your feet hollering in celebration of the talent on the Garde stage – all of this is an important part of the show. Without you, the talent voices and footsteps would echo into an empty hall. Thank you for making us so proud to be residents of this region for the second year in a row.

To the talent: you are hope and inspiration. We are amazed time and time again by watching you struggle through difficult pieces, meet the challenges of new choreography, help one another, and have immense joy in what you do. We wish you a lifetime of success in all your endeavors.

What we hope you feel resonating from this experience are the simple facts that…when you put your heart into something, when you commit to respect yourself and others around you, when you celebrate a failure as a learning moment, you are prepared for all of life’s ups and downs. Life is stormy; we know you’ll weather it wisely.

With all our love and blessings,

Your New London Youth Talent Show Coordinating Committee:

Frank Colmenares, Susan Connolly, Justin Dozier, Lisa Giordano, Curtis Goodwin, Jessica Hill, Andrea Messenger, Anthony Nolan, & Maya Sheppard
